Road Trippin' in Rural - Part 2
Day 3 Culture Experiencing in Sabak Bernam, Tanjung Karang & Kuala Selangor
Attraction 11: Light Industry Visit
Greeting From the Owner |
First visit in the morning was to a home based kerepek making factory. Rural areas always having lots of kerepek production, so went to have a glance how the kerepek will be made. They make different kerepeks everyday so they were making Rempeyek on the day we visited. During the preparation work, we went around the surrounding to visit the garage storage and tried some of their food.

Owner Explaining the Ingredients |
Once Everything Mixed, Rempeyek Will be Ready to Fry |
So All Their Production Will Come to Here for Sell |
It was great to know the process making of Rempeyek & thanks to the owner who did not mind to share the recipe. By doing so, rewarded her by supporting the product! Most importantly, they are very cheap too, RM2.50 per pack. Give a token of appreciation.
As for next station, Nata de Coco factory. I didn't know that the jelly thing that I used to eat call what, I didn't even know that there is Made In Malaysia version. Through this trip, at least I learned something new! It is Nata de Coco, which is made from coconut, that is why the "Coco".
Briefing of How Its Made |
From the briefing, we were acknowledge that it need to use up maximum of 7 days for the bacteria to form the required thickness as the fibre will be build up layer by layer. It would not work if there is absence of the bacteria, one of the most WOW FUN FACT of this Nata de Coco: The fibre itself can applied in Arhitecture use. Believe it or not, it has more benefits than what I thought of that it is an unhealthy artificial jelly. I was wrong.

Everyone Was Guided on How to Apply the Dyeing |
Let's Get Started, Everyone Seem so Interested! |
Tadaaaa! Everyone's Here. Drying Under the Sun. |
While waiting the Batik Painting to dry, it's time to proceed to CATFISH CATCHING! It was hard to step out the first step into the mud, girls always worried about is there anything else inside? And it was so slippery to make you think twice whether to enter or not. The ground was not even and at some area, there is a sudden drop which make you fall easily. So it was full of girls shouting in the beginning. Boys, no problem. By looking at others catching one by one, I wanted to catch one also but all I got is shouts more than catch a catfish.
This Could be their Profession. |
In late noon, we left Haji Dorani and headed to the wet market at Pasir Penambang to get the materials for BBQ night. Lecturers in charged to bargain with the seller.

It was a tiring yet wonderful BBQ night with friends and lecturers. Special thanks to the all the food, with all humility, I received this meal, thanks all farmers and fishermen's hard work and the mother nature's sacrifice for me.
Day 4 Culture Experiencing in Kuala Selangor
Last day morning went for cycling to get out breakfast done in the village. FYI, bicycle rental is available in The Kabin. We didn't managed to explore more in the village as we got very limited time in the morning, so once we done our breakfast, we went back to the hotel and it was swimming time. Till noon, check out time.

Small incident at the halfway & fixing then? OK |
They had too much fun in there! |
Wefie before check out |
Last lunch hunting in Pasir Penambang. Everyone had made a deal with having one last seafood meal. Not to mention the day was real scorching hot and I am wearing a black pants which absorb heat and I can feel that my legs were burning. Rushed all the way back to the bus. I came home with 2 shades darker. Sigh
Looking for a nice restaurant & all hotdogs burning under the hot sun. |
Target aimed. |
What is the "Bakar" refer to? Burned? Roasted? As it turned out, that is the name of the owner Mr. Bakar, while in the preparation of ingredients, they also roast the gula Melaka.
Extra order of something special: Pisang bakar, it was like a baked banana cake |
Finally, the trip has come to end and ready to be back to reality life. Assignments x 19713672321540
